Double Victory for Spain at the Florida International Youth Championships

Almost arriving at the end of the AGDF, in the tenth week took place the famous Florida International Youth Dressage Championship. With a total of 46 participants from six different nations, this championship has brought together the best riders of big countries such as Spain, the United States and Canada, among others. During the week, the activity has been frenetic, the two arenas, the Stadium and the Van Kampen Arena has not stopped from 8 a.m to 5 p.m.
Pau Gómez has beencrowned with the first place with Tarpan Ymas in his second CDI Under 25. Pau is studying Business and Administration by a distance program, he combines his studies with his work in the Ymas Stud. At the press conference the young Valencian rider thanked the Ymas Stud for this opportunity and for letting him ride Tarpan de Ymas. “It is a great opportunity for me to ride Tarpan, today we had some minor failures in the test but I am still very happy. I am a beginner in this category, every day I lean more”.
Parallel to Pau, another Spanish rider who participated in this championship in Wellington was Juan Matute Guimón. He has not only been champion in the category of Young Riders with Dhannie de Ymas, but also a big success in the Winter Season with Don Diego de Ymas, achieving the third position in the Freestyle Under the Lights, last Friday. With an 72,300%, he has once again demonstrated the good rapport between him and his “black buddy”.
Completing the Spanish representation in this Championship, Alfonso Ramirez with Legacy’s Cosmico obtained the twelfth position in the Young Riders Individual test.
In the Juniors category, the German rider Felicitas Hendricks, third in the FEI Junior ranking, has been invincible. In the two days of competition she has had six points of difference with the second placed rider. Her main objective this season is to be part of the German team in the upcoming European Championship, which will be held the second week of July in Oliva Nova (Valencia). “Now I go back to Germany and I will make some competitions there, including the German Championship”.
The Pony Champion, Hanna Irons wanted to thank Dressage4Kids, as well as the Davis Family for giving her the opportunity to ride and compete the pony Bohdjan.
